Me in a Nutshell

Education: After graduating High School in my home town Portland I attended Western Michigan University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education in December of 2009.  I started my Masters at MSU with a focus in special education in the Summer of 2014 and will be graduating in December 2015.

Profession: Immediately after graduating WMU I took a position working in a 4-5 year old classroom in Kalamazoo. I knew this was where I was meant to be. I finished out the school year working at Edison Elementary in Kalamazoo. My position was no longer needed at the school so I ventured home. In August of 2010 I started working for Community Action as the lead Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) teacher in Hastings. I completed one year of teaching there before they lost their funding. I then accepted a Lead Teacher position with the Lansing School District in a GSRP room where I have been for the past 4 years. I could not be happier!

Personal: I have been married for 3 years and we just had our first child in August 2015. We also have two wonderful (well most of the time they are wonderful) dogs, a 6 year old red-fox Lab and a 3 year old lab mixed. I currently live on the same dairy farm I grew up on. I enjoy camping and spending lots of time with my family. Family is very important to me! I spend my summers watching my nephews and niece/ running a mini preschool with them. Fall if my favorite time of year.
